NEW YORK (Reuters) – Pop singer Rihanna announced she is expecting her first child with rapper A$AP Rocky, confirming a story that ran in the tabloids last week.

Pop singer Rihanna, who has garnered widespread media attention for her romantic courtship with rapper A$AP Rocky, announced to the world that she is expecting a new baby.

Rihanna, one of the world’s most successful singers, announced that she is pregnant with her first child through a series of photos shared on Instagram on Monday.

Singer Rihanna showed off a slightly rounded belly in a pair of studio photos Monday to confirm she is expecting her first child with rapper boyfriend ASAP Rocky. The Grammy-winning singer wore a tight crop top with the message “Bun in the Oven” and camouflage pants while smiling and holding the hand of her hip-hop musician boyfriend, whose real name is Rakim Mayers.

The “Umbrella” singer and the A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, have been dating since 2012. The couple has not publicly said when they planned to marry or when the bundle of joy is due.

The famously private Rihanna, 25, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, and A$AP Rocky, 26, have dated since May 2012.

The size of the baby bump was not specified in the photos. The couple has no other immediate plans to make any public statement about the pregnancy, but sources close to the singer told Reuters that “she is really excited.”

The singer, 26, and her 23-year-old musician boyfriend posed for the cover of fashion magazine Flynnymagazine.com in the family photo shoot seven months after the couple began dating.

The Barbados-born singer, 25, and the 27-year-old New York-based rapper are believed to be in a relationship after they were spotted together last week, holding hands as they left an art exhibition in New York. The pair have appeared together on each other’s Instagram pages.
